The Searing City – Haiku Friday

The Searing City

Heat steams through the city,
sunlight reflects from skyscrapers –
Eagles circle prey.

Not a tree in sight,
the breeze must follow a path
that I too must walk.

    • Thank you Lou. I’m enjoying having a regular reason to create a haiku ( it’s Friday!) and I’m finding that the traditional structure (seasonal reference, nature influence) is giving way to environmental commentary. I’m glad you found it thought provoking, as I’m also finding the process stimulating.

    • Thanks- I took that photograph a few weeks ago and edited it on my iPhone with a number of apps. It’s great fun to play with images and words, I’m also thinking about that idea with my ink paintings.
Let’s see what comes of it 🙂

    • Thank you Valerie,
I agree – but it does have that overtone of fate to it- and I was playing with the idea of humans changing the course of nature, while trying to keep it light.
      Thanks for stopping by!
